Abena Bonso-Bruce, MBA, is a professional with over 15 years of experience in human resources, volunteer management, recruiting, managing federal grants, diversity and inclusion and employee retention strategies.
Abena is currently the Assistant Director (Volunteer Workforce Solutions) at the International Association of Fire Chiefs. Abena has presented at several local and nationwide conferences on topics such as recruitment and retention of volunteers, onboarding volunteers, diversity and inclusion and motivating volunteers.
Abena serves as the Vice-Chair of the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Recruitment and Retention Committee as well as an instructor for orientation. She has been the Chair of a scholarship program for volunteers at the Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for the past 8 years. She is also a member of the ASAE’s Component Relation and Volunteer Management Council.
